I am very concerned about girls of nowadays who wants to have their body pierced. However, I do not object to them having their ears pierced as I think earrings can look very pretty. I am very much against any other forms of body piercing. Nowadays you hear about young people who have their eyebrows, noses, tongues and even navels pierced!
I know young people would say that body piercing is fashionable. However, to most sensible people this excessive piercing is just self – mutilation and should not be allowed. Many people of my caliber consider this to be ugly and we cannot understand our mates who find it attractive and fashionable.
Another part is that body piercing can be very harmful. Pierced tongues can cause infections, blood poisoning and speech impediments. Why would any young person want to risk these just for a passing fashion?
In addition, doing any kind of sport with body piercing is bound to be dangerous. What would happen if an earring or nose ring were pulled out during a game of football or hockey? Infection or disfiguring damage could be the result.
To sum up, I feel that it is time a complete ban on all body piercing was put in place before our children do themselves permanent damage.
